Best non-WHU atmosphere you've experienced ...
SO, games not involving WHU home or away ...for me a few:

Watford v Luton (home end) - boy they don't get on.
Villa v Birmingham (home end) - boy they don't get on either.
Villa v Juventus - (home end) - cracking.
Nantes v Bordeaux (home end).

Germany 1 England 5 in 2001....stuff of dreams.

Holland 3 England 1 at Euro 88...most hostile atmosphere ever seen at football (plus night before!) apart from WHU v Millwall.

Nothing comes close
A few thousand of us in a caldron of hate
Had to draw to qualify
Read the reports in the papers, even now, never known anything like it.

I've been out of the country for 25 years now but from my youth remember a Brighton v Portsmouth match early 70's when Pompey took over their North Stand & the town for the weekend with a great party atmosphere as it was that easy for them .

SDKFZ 222 speaks the truth. I was there for that one. Goals flying in everywhere and a huge penalty shoot out, with the Sunderland left back Gray missing his penalty. 4-4 full time 7-6 on penalties. Some chap called Clive Mendonca seemed very popular.

Game 1 of the 1993 Stanley Cup playoffs, in Montreal for Montreal v LA.

Tremendous atmosphere around the city. The Canadiens are ahead of the Catholic Church in terms of Quebec's dominant religion.

Mark Kaylor v Roy Gumbs at Ally Pally was a WHU atmosphere at its best without the football.

I am about to introduce a little known sport and non-European arena so if that might upset you stop reading now.

On 25th April each year Australia and New Zealand celebrate ANZAC. The original ANZACS fought at Gallipoli and were cannon fodder due to terrible decision making by some pompous British General. Long Story short the Aussie have fought in every campaign since including Vietnam and ANZAC day is a Day that all Aussies and Kiwis observe and respect. In fact, we have a public holiday every ANZAC day.

Anyway, Melbourne has one of the truly great sporting venues in the MCG. It hold 100,000, is home to Australian cricket and the AFL, Aussie rules football a game that is as old as Association football. On Anzac day it is tradition that the same 2 Melbourne clubs play a league match....but this one is different. Prior to the game a raft of older and more recent defence personnel are paraded around the MCG, to rapturous applause and with dignity. After a number of ceremonies the last post is played. The flags raised and a minutes silence is observed. I have been for the past 8 years and the silence is truly observed by all. The applause at the end of the minutes silence is amazing and every time the hairs on the back of my neck stands up. Then the game commences and the crowd continue their fervent support.

No bubbles unfortunately but a very good atmosphere and experience.

I didn't think much of the old firm, and Barcelona against Madrid is like being at a County game on a Monday morning.

Honestly, when I was a small town reporter covering a basketball game in a town where basketball was their winter life (near the border and very Americanised so they actual did not care that much about other sports.)

Probably 800 people in a gym that was supposed to hold 650. Literally feel your heart shake (like if you are near the base at a concert) when the home team went down and made a run to catch back up. They ended up losing.

I haven't really been to a non West Ham match that I thought was an amazing atmosphere. Therefore, I will have to give the award to either my son or daughter's team, GrĂ¼ner. Seen a couple of cracking comebacks there. Someone dropped their hot dog at one of them.

"I brought my little brother to his first ireland game a few months back and when Shane long scored the winner against Germany the place erupted, real special moment for me."

I was there as part of a weekend trip to Dublin and must admit that when that goal went in it was one of the loudest grounds i'd been in. Not seen to much non WHU football over the years so it didnt have much to beat but it too is my winner

Been to 3 old firm matches absolutely incredible tense atmosphere.

Ireland losing 4-0 to Spain in Euro 2012 and 30000 Irish singing "fields of athenry" for 20 minutes straight was the most emotional sporting event I was ever at.

I brought my little brother to his first ireland game a few months back and when Shane long scored the winner against Germany the place erupted, real special moment for me.

For anyone that doesn't know Gaelic football, Dublin always warm up at the hill 16 end in Croke park, but the Tyrone boys came out first and went out of there way to warm up in front of the hill, the dubs came out and went down to warm up beside them, they all ended up barging into each other and fights were breaking out all over the pitch, created a crazy atmosphere before kick off.
